I can't resist.

I've been itching to start working on a project lately, and since my mind is pretty much stuck on Baby, I decided to go ahead and give in, and start crocheting some baby things.

The first project was SO EASY, and I'm really stoked about how it came out! I've seen a lot of baby sweater patterns, but they are usually stitched in 3 or 4 separate pieces, and then sewn together (which I find utterly NOT FUN at all). This results in a boxy sweater with huge shoulders, and it looks uncomfortable and restrictive.

This pattern I found on Ravelry, and was stitched in one piece, and has adorable little raglan style sleeves, which cuts down on the bulk, and is just so darn cute. And easy. I added the border, but I'm not entirely happy with it. I think it's because it's in a fingering (sock) weight yarn, lighter than the sport weight I used on the sweater, so it didn't hold it's shape as well as I'd like.

We find out what we're having on the 1st of Feb., so I'm going to wait to add buttons until then. That way I can make the cardi more masculine or more feminine, depending. Also, if it's a girl, I plan on adding a crocheted flower, corsage style, to the lapel area. CUTE!

And guess how long it took? Like 3 hours total. This is for a newborn, and since I used yarn I had on hand, and it only took 3 hours, I don't really care if they only wear it for 2 weeks. The next one, I plan on using a heavier cotton yarn and a larger needle so it will be in a 0-3 mos. size. I'll post pictures as I make more!
