We had a little bit of a scare today- I had an appointment with the midwife today and we were going to get to hear the heartbeat for the first time. She turned on the doppler thing, and after a bit of rooting around, she and Justin said that they both thought they heard it, but no one was sure. We couldn't find the heartbeat again, even though it was registering at 130 on the monitor.
The midwife said that I could either wait until my next appointment and we'd hear it then (if it was still a viable pregnancy), I could wait 2 weeks to get an appointment with the ultrasound technician, or I could call the technician and go find him in SLC and have him do one today.
Justin and I decided that we couldn't wait any longer to find out if our baby was still alive or not, so we went up to Jordan Valley Medical Center to find Philip, the technician, and have an ultrasound done.
Thankfully, everything is just fine. The baby has a strong heartbeat (160) and was squirming around like crazy (I think that's a McDaniel thing. We're in trouble). I'm so relieved that everything is fine. It was extremely scary to think that we might have lost the baby, and I'm glad that we know for sure now. As it turns out, my uterus is just tipped back at an odd angle, which made it hard for them to find with the doppler. And on top of it, we have some cute little ultrasound pictures to show everyone. We'll post them soon.
Now that we've heard the heartbeat, and I'm at 10 weeks, we are much more confident that everything will be just fine with this baby. We are so excited and grateful for the blessings we received today.

That must have been stressful for you, and I'm so glad that everything turned out ok! It's exciting to see your baby in there, isn't it?
I am so happy to hear your news! It will be fun when you start to FEEL all of those wiggles that you only saw today! How exciting!
What a relief...I totally know the feeling. Every time I heard the heartbeat (before I could feel the baby) I would think, "Ok... there's really a baby in there." It's hard to believe it until you can feel it. How are you feeling these days?
That's wonderful news. I can't wait to see the pictures of your itty bitty...we had our ultrasound two days ago and it was just breath taking...even the fourth time around :)
Exciting times.
Oh good! Im glad he is going to be a McDaniel! Maybe he/she will like frisbee like us. On a related note, Justin told me that you guys are naming him after me. My middle name is Bryce in case you wanted to know. Thanks
Jed
