Proposition 8

There's a lot of hubbub around here about California's Proposition 8, so I thought I'd just put up this article that can be found here. Please read it, become educated, and talk about it with your friends, family, and acquaintances. It is important that we as a society protect the sanctity of traditional marriage, for so many reasons. This article gives excellent insight into the many facets that are of concern, and how they need to be addressed.

Some quotes that I found particularly insightful regarding this:

"Tolerance obviously requires a non-contentious manner of relating toward one another’s differences. But tolerance does not require abandoning one’s standards or one’s opinions on political or public policy choices. Tolerance is a way of reacting to diversity, not a command to insulate it from examination." -Dallin H. Oaks

"My young friends, be strong. The philosophies of men surround us. The face of sin today often wears the mask of tolerance. Do not be deceived; behind that facade is heartache, unhappiness, and pain. You know what is right and what is wrong, and no disguise, however appealing, can change that. The character of transgression remains the same. If your so-called friends urge you to do anything you know to be wrong, you be the one to make a stand for right, even if you stand alone. Have the moral courage to be a light for others to follow." -Thomas S. Monson
