So I've taken a huge step (in my mind) and decided that it's time I start applying for jobs. I'm graduating in December, and there's no reason why I need to make such a meager living when I have a college education. Don't get me wrong, I love the ModBod, but it's true that all good things must come to an end.
I talked to my bosses, just so they'd have a heads up that I might be leaving in January (we try and be pretty open about stuff there, and I figured I owe it to them...) and I got some mixed reactions. I can't really tell what they're thinking, but I figure I'll just do my thing, work there, and apply until I find something more career oriented, and see what happens.
So far I've put in two applications. One is for a job as a caseworker for the Department of Child and Family Services in the state of UT, and the other is for the MENTOR Network working with foster children, families, and potential foster parents. Of course I'm not sure how these will work out. Usually you have to put in about 15 applications before one becomes a possibility, especially when I'm looking for entry level with little to no experience in my area.
I do need to figure out some more places I can apply though. I'd really like to work with families some how- parents, children, or all of the above, somehow improving their lives. I want to do something that is meaningful and where I feel like I'm making a difference.
If you have any ideas of where to look, let me know. Don't suggest monster.com because my resume is already up there. Thanks a bunch...

Oh I know how you feel :)- except for the career part I guess. That's very exciting for you!
I know the right thing will come at the right time and you will make a difference in many peoples lives. I wish you were here and we could get jobs together! How sweet would that be!
